"We will rule the Wasteland."

The Cutter is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in a mission from the Military Zone, then as a normal opponent from Race 3 onwards.

Design

The Cutter is a six-wheeled contraption, being very loosely based of the vehicle Lord Humungus drives in Mad Max 2: Road Warrior. It has V-6 engine and bead locks on all wheels.

Performance

This vehicle can push around he opposition with ease, although with the downside of driving over them sometimes. Its top speed is below average at 222mph when fully upgraded, but good enough for a 3+ ton vehicle[1].

Driver

The driver, named "Humungassass" in the files, is a demonic-looking man with three red eyes (additional one on the forehead), and tattoos throughout his whole body. He wears some kind of body armor, pants with chains around them, and brown boots.

Mission Appearances

The Cutter is featured in the second mission from the Military Zone (Duel in the Arena), being the main target.

The vehicle is supposedly driven by Stitch Kowalski, one of the local gang leaders who had made a deal with the player in the previous mission (Let's Go to Work) to take out Strike Brown. After that mission, Stitch let the power get to his head, and wants to waste the player himself.

He will be located inside of the maze-like arena in the middle of the Military Zone. The door will close behind the player once they enter, and will only open after the Cutter is wasted.

Trivia

  • The Cutter's file name is "ToeCutter". Toecutter's gang features in the first Mad Max movie.
  • Humungassass gets his name from Lord Humungus, the main villain in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. The reference to a Wasteland comes from the same film.
    • His name also means "humongous ass" (humongous being slang for "huge").
  • The developers seem to have used the Fortress' "Other" texture as a base for Cutter's. It also has the same wheels, only they are now colored gray instead of blue.
  • Inside the files for the Cutter there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle, with several elements taken from The Spectre:
    • NAME "Toe Cutter"
    • DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 160mph
    • Kerb weight: 3500Kgs
    • 0-60mph: 3.4 seconds

    • DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Sp Host"
    • STRENGTH 5
    • COST 50 // in thousands!
