The Boss is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in the Docks, being part of the third batch of vehicles the player encounters in the game.
Design
The Boss is a first generation Ford Mustang, built from 1964 through 1973. The vehicle has a black paintjob with a flaming livery and a supercharger.
Performance
The Boss is a great racer for technical circuits and certain missions. It has a decent top speed, reaching 258mph fully upgraded. Its wasting potential is average at best, being able to take on lighter vehicles, but won't be able to dent heavier ones[1].
Driver
The driver, named "Mustang Smelly" in the files, has medium-length blonde hair, with an open black jacket, and dark blue jeans.
Trivia
- The Boss' file name is "Mustang".
- The inspiration of this vehicle is a car belonging to the "Boss", or "King" of Burnouts, Gary Myers. The car in question is a 1964 Ford Mustang with a "black with flames" paintjob. It can be seen on his site.
- The earlier version of this vehicle had a wider grill, with it also lacking the Mustang logo on it, and had smaller headlights.
- The classic blues song Mustang Sally was a hit for Wilson Pickett in 1966, known for its choral refrain of "All you want to do is ride around, Sally / Ride, Sally, ride."
- Mustang Smelly can also mean "My Stang Smelly". "Stang" is a less-used slang for 'vagina'. Considering the old description below, and the usual jokes found within this game, it is likely that this was the idea behind her name.
- Early version of this vehicle, without interior can be found at TdrBackupC folder DronesCollision, suggesting it was originally meant to be drone.
- Inside the files for the Boss there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle:
- NAME "Mustang"
- DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 260mph\nKerb weight: 1600kgs\n0-60mph: 3.4 seconds. Something is very fishy about this girl"
- DESCRIPTOR "MustangDescriptor.txt"
- DRIVER_NAME "Smelly Sally"
- DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Sardine"
- STRENGTH 5
- COST 50 // in thousands!
- TYPE 1 // 0 = eagle, 1 = normal, 2 = novelty

The Boss appears in the Tozzer Carmageddon comic, under the name "Mustang", being the second car driven by Max Damage after his Eagle MK4 is torn to shreds by an army of the undead. He blames his Eagle's destruction on the mechanic hired to repair it earlier, but later spotting the Mustang, decides to use it as a substitute.
Design
This version of the vehicle is more detailed than the game one, having less of a blocky look and resembling a Mustang much more. The Mustang logo is missing from this iteration, and its headlights are smaller.
