The Bear (CWR) is unused concept made during early development of Carmageddon: Reincarnation. While going unused at the time, one of the concept's variations were used for Carmageddon: Crashers version of The Bear.
Design

The car is 1960's or 1970's two-door coupe, with plastic body, complete with porta-potty-like moulded reinforcement insets. It has small windows on doors. It has sickle box similar to original The Bear. Fuel tanks are similar to additional fuel drums of T-34 and are fully exposed. It has no roll cage and both exhaust and air intake travels through a backside of cabin. There is tractor style steel seat with swivel mechanism. Control mechanisms, including sawed half 50's style steering wheel are tied to swivel base. Idea was that swivel seat matches the direction car was driving to. There is ladders for driver to get in. On roof it has three antennas similar to ones on the Sputnik. Engine is in back and rear wall of trunk has grille for cooling. It has non-triangulated 4-links and three shocks at every corner.
Performance
The Bear (CWR) was supposed to be able to reverse as fast as go forward.
Development

BearWIP01.jpg (24/11/2011) shows early mockup with standard BMW 2002 -body as placeholder and double tractor style tires. It has fuel tanks and Sputnik-style antennas already, but lacks sickle and most off road-gear. It's skin is also completely different.
Db_9.jpg (30/12/2011) done in Forza Motorsport 4 shows almost final decal placement and color.

Bearcomp02.jpg (12/01/2012) shows painted over mock up of most of the final features. It also has fender extensions that were never completed.

Newer suspension 1.jpg (02/02/2012) shows placeholder BMW 2002 -body with coil over suspension. This version has side mirrors much closer to final design. Tires have changed closer to final version and has addition of bumpers. It still has rollcage which was removed from final design.
Trivia
- Last version sent to Stainless (BearFinal7.zip) was finalized 04/04/2012.
- While The Bear (CWR) is based of BMW 2002, final version obstructs most of the BMW-influences. Thus it could be considered a fantasy soviet vehicle.
- CWR's idea was, as The Bear is a soviet design, there should be no accommodations for driver safety. That explains the exhaust routing and removed rollcage.
- As is with all CWR's Reincarnation-concepts, Bear was supposed to have three different colour variations along with three different wheel styles.
- Plastic body is reference to a Trabant, infamous DDR car with body made of Duroplast.
- Undercarriage and tires are from unknown stock Sketchup-monster truck model. Stainless was supposed to replace it with their own model, which they did for Crashers.
