Design

File:Design knave.png

Knave is a 1982 GMC Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am, most famous as the basis for KITT from Knight Rider.

Performance

Knave is a vehicle suited for racing, having good handling. However, its top speed isn't that great when fully upgraded, only reaching 206mph. It is also too lightweight to dent any opponents. Although it might not be a bad choice for missions[1].

Driver

The driver, named "Sir David Havahock" in the files, appears to be in the middle of some kind of mutation, with the left half of its body being malformed and his left eye being like that of a fly. He also wears a yellow and black stripped shirt, and black pants.

Trivia

  • The unused driver name "David Havahock" sounds very much like David Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight in Knight Rider.
  • Knave was mainly the work of 3D artist David Biggs[2].
  • Inside the files for Knave there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle, the early driver name seems to be more fitting to the driver from the final game:
    • NAME "Knave"
    • DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 200mph
    • Kerb weight: 1.5 tons
    • 0-60mph: 3.4 seconds
    • I've lost my Speedoes!"
    • DESCRIPTOR "Knavedescriptor.txt"
    • DRIVER_NAME "The Fly!"
    • DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Fly"
    • STRENGTH 5
    • COST 50 // in thousands!
    • TYPE 0 // 0 = eagle, 1 = normal, 2 = novelty
    • //ARMOUR_MAP "eagle_armoured"

Knight is one of the 20 vehicles in the cancelled Game Boy Color port of Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It appears as a normal opponent on Race 2 of Docks, and Races 1 and 2 of Military.

Design

The sprite is based on the original model and there are no noticeable differences.

Performance

Knight has great top speed and acceleration, but suffers on the handling department. Its wasting potential is not that good either.
