Carmageddon: Reincarnation
"Wacko paraplegic Screwie lost his legs in a fight with The Eagle. There'll be no screwing around in his mission to take revenge on Max."
Screwie Lewie returns, revealed to be a double leg amputee. When he's not driving the Twister, he uses an all terrain wheel-chair called the Spack Chariot: This may be available to drive in-game.[1].
Trivia
- "Screwie Louie" is a phrase describing something that is not working correctly, e.g. "the printer's all Screwie Louie again."
- The Twister is the first vehicle shown in the first game's intro.
- In the PlayStation port, Screwie Lewie is called Screwie Louis. Here, he drives the same Twister, but lacks the drill on the front during races. It has one on the Info screen and in the Car Shop, very odd.
- Screwie Lewie looks just like Sir Percy Ware-Armitage from the movie Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines.
- His car is most likely based on Drill Sergeant, a vehicle from Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. See the Intro at around 40 seconds.
- The Twister is a heavily modified reworking of the Electric Blue, itself a modded Lister Storm. The Twister also seems, at least in part, to be based on the Lancia Stratos - most evident around the indicator lights and grille. The rear of the car, however, is definitely something else.
- The Twister does not have a steering wheel - instead, Screwie uses a joystick.
- The Splat Pack's Su Borg also drives a vehicle which uses a joystick.
- Screwie's loss of his legs could work as a good explanation (aside from insanity) as to why he drives using a one-handed joystick (which would allow him to control a throttle with his other hand).
- In the Reincarnation Alpha, The Twister is back to having a steering wheel. This could be changed in time.
- 'Spack' is short for 'Spacker', which is not a nice word - it's a harsher version of 'retard' (which is hardly a politically correct term itself).[2]
