"My Mac is eeeeeevil."

McKilem is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in a mission in the Docks, and then as a normal opponent in the Military Zone, being encountered very late in the game.

Design

File:Design mckilem.png

McKilem is based on a McLaren F1 GTR sports car. It is colored gray with two stripes running on top of its body. The vehicle has two blades attached to the ends of its spoiler.

Performance

McKilem is one of the best cars in the game for racing, with great acceleration, handling, and top speed (360mph fully upgraded). It is only not good at wasting other vehicles[1].

Driver

The driver, named "Wiseguy" in the files, is a generic driver with a purple helmet, black jacket, and dark blue jeans.

Mission Appearances

McKilem first appears in the Docks' first mission (Juice Up) alongside Witch Doctor. It will be driving around the area, but it is easily avoidable and does not need to be destroyed.

Its second appearance is in the Military Zone's second mission (Duel in the Arena). It will appear alongside HFB Terra and Tow Meister after the player destroys the Cutter. It also does not need to be wasted, and the player only needs to drive to the water towers to complete the mission.

Its final appearance is in the Bridge's mission (The Great Divide), together with Femme Fatal, SXE Black Hatch, and Witch Doctor. It is encountered as soon as the player leaves the tunnel. It will try to chase the player's car throughout the ground area, but just like in two earlier missions, it is easily avoidable and does not need to be destroyed.

Trivia

  • McKilem's textures are named "McLaren".
  • Kilem = "Kill them".
  • Wiseguy is also the name for several drivers in the Nosebleed Pack; it can be assumed that they were never given names, and "Wiseguy" is merely a placeholder (see Development).
  • His quote could be interpreted as an attack on the Mac OS (at the time, Mac OS 9).
    • Coincidentally, TDR was never released for Mac.
  • As seen in a screenshot from May 2000, McKilem appears to have been colored purple, and lacked the spoiler early on in development. Another shot from the May 2000 issue of the Micromania Tercera Epoca magazine, shows some sort of blade at its side as well.
  • Inside the files for McKilem there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle:
    • NAME "McKilem"
    • DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 200mph
    • Kerb weight: 1.5 tons
    • 0-60mph: 3.4 seconds
    • The McKilem is one evil sportscar!"
    • DESCRIPTOR "McKilemdescriptor.txt"
    • DRIVER_NAME "Wiseguy"
    • DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Wisearse"
    • STRENGTH 5
    • COST 50 // in thousands!
    • TYPE 0 // 0 = eagle, 1 = normal, 2 = novelty
    • //ARMOUR_MAP "eagle_armoured"
