"Heads or Tails baby!!" |
Limey is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in the Docks, being part of the third batch of vehicles the player encounters in the game.
Design
The car appears to be a modified 1973 General Motors Chevrolet Corvette C3 with elements of the C2. It is a cabriolet with a hood scoop, and two spikes that move from left to right on the grill. It is colored green, with white stripes applied from the front to the back. It also sports the number 69.
Performance
This vehicle may be decent for racing, having good acceleration. Although its speed is not that great, only reaching 214mph when fully upgraded. Its wasting potential is decent, being able to destroy weak opponents such as The Mecha, Shark, and Electric Blue. However, heavier vehicles will be more difficult to wreck without a proper strategy[1].
Driver
The driver, named "Uther Hurt" in the files, is a generic driver wearing a black jacket and dark blue jeans. This same man also drives Gorvette.
Trivia
- Limey is a somewhat derogatory word for a British person among the rest of the English-speaking world.
- On the TDR 2000 SDK, the Limey's textures appear under the name "fred".
- Uther Hurt could be interpreted as "Utter Hurt" or "You Hurt" (Uther Hurt = U. Hurt).
- The unused description makes more sense when paired with his race number: 69. As in the sex position.
- Limey is one of three cars with the "69" race number. The others are: Merciless Cullwing, and the Buzzmobile.
- Limey was mainly the work of 3D artist David Biggs[2].
- Limey was created with Gorvette as a base. While the body is modified enough, it still has the same overall shape. It also has the same UV Mapping, driver, hood scoop, and early description, which can be read below.
- Inside the files for Limey there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle, with the description being taken from the early version of Gorvette:
- NAME "Limey"
- DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 260mph\nKerb weight: 1600kgs\n0-60mph: 3.1 seconds.
- If you can catch me, I'll give you the rash"
- DESCRIPTOR "LimeyDescriptor.txt"
- DRIVER_NAME "Slimey Limey"
- DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Slimey"
- STRENGTH 5
- COST 50 // in thousands!
- TYPE 1 // 0 = eagle, 1 = normal, 2 = novelty
