"Where there's a kill, there's a way."

Gorvette is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in a mission from the Slums, but later becomes a regular opponent in HiRise.

Design

File:Design gorvette.png

It is a modified red 1973 General Motors Chevrolet Corvette C3 with elements from the C2. It sports three spikes on its front, and a supercharger.

Performance

Gorvette is a good choice for races, having great acceleration, handling, and top speed (290mph fully upgraded). And while its offense is quite average without upgrades, it still can do decent damage to other vehicles[1].

Driver

The driver, named "Gore Usome" in the files, is a generic driver wearing a black jacket and dark blue jeans. This same man also drives Limey.

Mission Appearances

Gorvette is featured in the Slums' second mission (Traffic Jam) as a target. The player has to make a roadblock in the sewers to prevent the gang leader (driving the Gorvette) from escaping. It will arrive when the time runs out together with two Tow Meisters, and will attempt to flee while both of them try to destroy the player.

Trivia

  • Gorvette's file name is "Corvette".
  • Early on in development, Gorvette was named "Red Rash".
  • The name is portmanteau of 'gore' and 'Corvette'.
  • Gore Usome = Gore you some (Gore being defined as "to pierce or wound, as with a horn").
    • It's also possibly a reference to "gruesome" and, perhaps more obliquely, "awesome."
  • Gorvette is mentioned in the Tozzer comic. Two mechanics discuss whether or not a car can cleanly decapitate a pedestrian at the speed of 30 miles per hour. They decide that the Gorvette can do it, but not a regular car, which requires twice the speed.
  • Limey was created with Gorvette as a base. While the body is modified enough, it still has the same overall shape. It also has the same UV Mapping, driver, hood scoop, and early description, which can be read below.
  • Inside the files for Gorvette there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle:
    • NAME "Red Rash"
    • DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 260mph\nKerb weight: 1600kgs\n0-60mph: 3.1 seconds.
    • If you can catch me, I'll give you the rash"
    • DESCRIPTOR "CorvetteDescriptor.txt"
    • DRIVER_NAME "Dick Sore"
    • DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Scab"
    • STRENGTH 5
    • COST 50 // in thousands!
    • TYPE 1 // 0 = eagle, 1 = normal, 2 = novelty
