"Ask for flaring, ya get flares." |
Husky is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in HiRise, being encountered halfway through the game.
Design
This vehicle is yet another reference to Starsky & Hutch (see Carkey & Clutch). It partially resembles their famous ride, a 1974 Ford Gran Torino, but the colours are swapped, and the original doesn't have 76 on the front.
Performance
Husky is a decent car for wasting opponents from the get-go, but after it is fully upgraded, it can hit them like a freight train. It has low acceleration however, needing power upgrades to reach its fullest potential[1].
Driver
The driver, named "Abe L" in the files, is a man with dark glasses and a mustache. He wears a black suit.
Trivia
- Husky's file name is "Starsky", and one of its earlier names was "Hutch". Its final name is an amalgamation of the two.
- A husky is also breed of dog used for pulling sleds.
- Flares were those nifty seventies trousers.
- Abe L (short name "Linc") could be turned into Abel, but he could also be named after US President Abraham "Honest Abe" Lincoln. It's also a homonym of "able."
- The race number "76" is also used by Stodge Barger.
- Inside the files for Husky there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle, with some elements being taken from the Eagle MK4:
- NAME "Husky"
- DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 200mph
- Kerb weight: 1.5 tons
- 0-60mph: 3.4 seconds
- The Eagle's back and it rocks!"
- DESCRIPTOR "Starskydescriptor.txt"
- DRIVER_NAME "Starsky"
- DRIVER_SHORT_NAME "Max"
- STRENGTH 5
- COST 50 // in thousands!
- TYPE 0 // 0 = eagle, 1 = normal, 2 = novelty
- //ARMOUR_MAP "eagle_armoured"

Funk is one of the 20 vehicles in the cancelled Game Boy Color port of Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It appears as a normal opponent on Races 1 and 2 of Slums.
Design
The sprite is based on the original model, but it is colored orange & white, instead of white & red, and it is missing the "76" number. The number is present in the menu art, however.
Performance
Funk has very sluggish handling, and its acceleration and top speed are not good. Its wasting potential is also average at best.
Mission Appearances
Funk first appears as an obstacle in the first mission of Back of Beyond (Mission 3 overall) together with the Yeti. It does not need to be destroyed.
It is also featured in the second mission of Necropolis (Mission 14 overall), where it acts as a bomber sent by the Duke after his mansion was destroyed by the player in the previous mission. The objective is to destroy Funk before the time runs out.
Trivia
- Funk's menu art appears to have been traced from the screenshot glimpsed at the May 2000 issue of the Micromania Tercera Epoca magazine.
