King Merc is one of the 30 original cars from Carmageddon. It appears together with the third tier of vehicles, and is not stealworthy.
Design
The vehicle is apparently based on a fourth generation Mercedes-Benz SL, despite having SLK rear lights and a body similar to a W140 coupe. The car is set on top of tank treads.
Performance
King Merc is a great vehicle for wasting opponents, including tier 3 ones, but it's hard to control. As it is not stealworthy however, it won't be useful in a normal playthrough[1].
Trivia
- The number "four" on the tank means "vier" in German which is exactly pronounced like the word "fear".
- King Merc is a German car converted into a tank, driven by German driver Heinz Faust.
- Heinz Guderian was a German general and famous commander of great panzer divisions during WW2. In the last year of the war he became Chief of the General Staff of the Heer.
- The vehicle's name is written as "King Merk" in the info screen.

King Merc is one of the 50 original cars from Carmageddon: TDR 2000. It first appears in a mission of the Military Zone, then as a normal opponent on Race 2 of the same area, being encountered late in the game.
Design
The front and sides of the King Merc were modelled after a Mercedes-Benz R129 SL, while the rear more closely resembles that of an R170 SLK. It has got a different livery this time around, being all white with two black stripes going from the front to the back of the car. It also has a blade on the grill, in addition to the tank modifications.
Performance
This vehicle, despite being a tank, has some difficulties crushing other cars, and its front blade does not do that much damage. Its defense is also quite low, with its body panels falling off too easily. Turning with the King Merc often leads to spin outs[1].
Driver
The driver, named "Hans Kristoff Havocstein" in the files, looks suspiciously like Adolf Hitler.
Mission Appearance
King Merc appears in the first mission from the Military Zone (Let's Go to Work) as a target. It will keep trying to escape from you and driving across the whole map, while the Soul Harvester and Tow Meister try to stop you.
King Merc was supposed to be driven by Strike Brown, the rival of the leader of a local gang. However, upon destroying the vehicle, it is revealed that it was driven by his bodyguard instead.
Trivia
- The unused name of the driver may be a very mangled reference to Danish author Hans Christian Anderson.
- The reason King Merc was created for TDR 2000 was because of a poll done by SCi, which was to choose the top 5 cars from both the original Carmageddon, and Carmageddon II to be made for TDR 2000. King Merc was one of the winners on the C1 side. The others were Electric Blue, Tow Meister, Vlad MK. 1 and Suppressor[2].
- King Merc doesn't have a damaged texture variant.
- Mark Day was one of the artists who worked on King Merc[3].
- Inside the files for King Merc there is an info .txt file for an earlier iteration of the vehicle:
- NAME "KingMerc"
- DESCRIPTION "Top Speed: 80mph
- Kerb weight: 10.5 tons
- 0-60mph: 6.4 seconds

In the Funsize version of Carmageddon, the King Merc is once again not stealworthy, being one of the vehicles the player receives after beating the game.
Design
This version of King Merc's design lacks the license plate on the grill, and the Mercedes logo is replaced by a skull.
Trivia
- The Funsize texture is based on the cancelled Gizmondo version. However, that version still had the Mercedes logo on it.

Blitzkrieger is one of the extra cars added to Carmageddon: Reincarnation, and one of the vehicles that came right away with Carmageddon: Max Damage. It first appears in Group 11, being part of the last batch of vehicles the player encounters in the game.
Design
It is very closely based on the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
Performance
Trivia
- King Merc was confirmed for Reincarnation in the Tanking Wanking King Merc & Heinz Beans Fart Faust blog post from the 21st of June 2013 on Kickstarter. However, the car wasn't available in the game's release due to the tank physics not being completed in time, with the King Merc (renamed to Blitzkrieger) only being added on the December 2015 update.
- Blitzkrieger was the work of Paul Jasicki.
- Model of the Blitzkrieger differs considerably from other Reincarnation-models, being mostly enclosed space with little regards to mechanical parts apart from tracks.
- Suspension of the Blitzkrieger does not resemble any existing continuous track suspension.
- Body of the model was likely based of a free blueprint from internet.
- There was a another concept of Blitzkrieger much closer to the original King Merc made by CWR. It was never used.
