Description
"This dynamic duo look like they're trapped in a timewarp. Flares, afros and a muscle car... it's the 'In-a-state '76' pair!"

Stodge Barger is one of the new vehicles introduced in the Splat Pack expansion from the original Carmageddon, driven by Carkey & Clutch. It appears among the last batch of opponents and becomes stealworthy at rank 21.

Design

It is a blue muscle car with white stripes. Attached to its front bumper are cow horns and a plaque with the race number 76. This same number is also on its sides, on top, and on the license plate on the rear.

Performance

It is decent alternative to The Twister, having same weight and slightly lower top speed and quicker acceleration. It's performance is below Caddy Fat Cat.

Driver

Carkey & Clutch are a driver duo. Carkey has an afro, muttonchops, sunglasses, brass knuckles, and wears black; while Clutch has blonde medium-length hair, a moustache, and wears white.

Trivia

  • Stodge Barger replaces Lumberer.
  • That description just makes it blatant; these two are a parody of the lead characters from Interstate '76, a vehicular combat game released in March 1997. If one waits on the choose car screen, the profile picture flickers and they become simple polygon people - this is what Groove Champion and Taurus looked like in that other game.
  • Carkey & Clutch get their names from Starsky & Hutch, a popular TV detective duo in the 1970s who would race around in their distinctive Ford Torino. In Carmageddon, however, they drive a car that suggests design inspirations from old muscle car models such as the Camaro and Chevelle, the Stodge Badger is an attempt at a generic muscle car entry in the Carmageddon car roster. As the pun in its name implies.
  • The cow horns on the front of the Barger recall those adorning Boss Hogg's Cadillac Coupe DeVille in the late 70s/early 80s American TV series The Dukes of Hazzard. The Dukes themselves drove a Dodge Charger, albeit a different model to the Barger, known as The General Lee.
  • Stodge Barger appears in Carmageddon (PlayStation), driven by Billy Joe Jim Bob.
  • Similar named drivers - Khaki and Crutch, are featured in Carmageddon (PlayStation), driving a completely different car.
  • Carmageddon: TDR 2000's Husky is another reference to Starsky & Hutch.
  • It's possible Stodge Barger was intended for the original Carmageddon, as concept art made for similar muscle car exists.
  • In the Splat Pack Demo, their name was Tortoise and Chump, and their shortname was Afro Boys.
