Auto Scum

Auto Scum is a gang in the world of the Carmageddon series. They first appear in the original Carmageddon, and return in Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now. Other individual members also appear in other games.

Traits

Auto Scum members all have "A"s painted somewhere on their faces, and some even wear full white body paint. Each of them drives different kinds of buggies, which are often the weakest vehicles in their respective games. Symbols associated with them are a piranha, a smiley, a spade, and a skull.

Carmageddon

Four members of Auto Scum appear in the original Carmageddon. The members on the top left and bottom right of the mugshot drive the Street Eater, the ones on the top right and bottom left drive the Road Bratt, and the one on the bottom right also drives the Razorbill.

Bio Description

Road-going gang of psychos, muggers & murderers who drive a variety of armored off-roaders.

Trivia

• Only one Auto Scum member can appear as an opponent in a race at a time. This limit is removed in the Funsize port.
• Auto Scum's name was taken from a gang of the same name in the Death Race 2020 comic.
• In Carmageddon (PlayStation), the Road Bratt is driven by a unrelated driver named Agro Man.
• In the Tozzer Carmageddon: TDR 2000 comic, the Street Eater appears and is driven by a vampire named Gunk.
• Despite similarities, Mech Maniac is not a member of the Auto Scum.

Carmageddon: Splat Pack

Main article: Su Borg

While not appearing in the Splat Pack expansion, an ex-member of the Auto Scum - Su Borg appears, driving the Doozer. Su Borg would also return later in Carmageddon II with a new look and vehicle.

Carmageddon II

Three members of Auto Scum appear in Carmageddon II. The first one drives the Bugga, the second the Piranha, and the third the Razorback.

Trivia

• The portrait of the driver of the Razorback was also used for Bug Meister, Monster Beatle's driver in Carmageddon 64.
• Despite not being a racer in the original Carmageddon, Razorback appears in the opening sequence, driven by a white man with a green mohawk and sunglasses. In Carmageddon II Razorback made its official debut as a playable racer, driven by a white man with a shaved head.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation, Max Damage & Crashers

Only one member of the Auto Scum appears in Carmageddon: Reincarnation, that being their leader - Nora Virus. She drives the Razorbill.

Bio Description

The Autoscum are a gang of murderous crazies, none more so than their leader, Nora. In her spare time she enjoys extreme crochet and biting the heads off whippets.

Trivia

• Nora Virus = Norovirus.
• Her design appears to be based on the female member of the Auto Scum gang from the original Carmageddon, only without the white body paint.
